I like to make a selection of cards to always have on the ready for Birthdays, thankyous and occasions, so I have made a new set. I have sewn little flowers onto card.

Making cards

I always like to have handmade cards ready to send to people when a birthday or event comes up. So I decided to sit down and make some new ones as I am gradually running out of the ones I have made before.

I saw a great card idea, of using paper and sewing it onto card.

So I got going.

I drew out lots of pretty shapes, balloons for the boys and then lots of butterflies and flowers.

They looked quite pretty once I had finished cutting them all out, although my fingers hurt and it took a while!

I then got my sewing machine out and got sewing. I layed out the flowers etc roughly where I wanted them and sewed them on to the cards.

I think the results were quite pretty, I just need to line them to finish them off nicely. :o)

I made cake...

I saw a picture of a cake I really wanted to make a while back, I just needed an occasion to make it. So my Nan's Birthday.

This is a test run, just to check it wouldn't be a total disaster at the last minute when I didn't have a back up plan (often a problem I have!!) But it wasn't and am quite happy.

I think I'm gunna make it in shades of green, my Nan's fav colour. There'll be pics of that 2, so fingers crossed it's successful.

I also got some icing tools when I was out shopping (it is what I used to do the icing on the cake), but I also wanted to try and make some chocolate shapes (another idea that I saw recently). I just did some test runs of hearts and stars, but worked ok. Just gotta make sure I don't get too impatient and touch them before they r properly dry!

I just tried them in my cake, think they look cute, might add these to the next cup cakes I make, now there's an idea!!

I love taking photos and so today I nabbed my Dads SLR and ventured into the garden.

Dress

I wanted to make another new dress, so I found some fabric- a bargain at less than £2 a metre and got to work. I altered a pattern that I had used before, I added buttons at the front and made the skirt fuller.

I think I might even wear it with a belt. I think i'll try it on a few different ways and see...

Through the viewfinder pics

I have always loved to take photographs and I have had a fascination with photographs that are either poloroids or more recently- through the viewfinder pictures. I think they can look amazing! So obviously I have been experimenting.

I take all my pics on a digital camera and have done for years now, so I have been playing with effects in photoshop to get the look I wanted. It wasn't easy, but I got there. :)

New pink pearl necklace

I decided to make a pink and pearl long necklace to go with an outfit I have just got.

I added flower, heart and a butterfly charm along with pearl, silver and pink beads.

Making a Ring

I decided recently that I would make a ring. I have made one ring before, but it was a flower one very different to my new idea.

I decided to design a ring that I would cut out with a piercing saw. I played with lots of ideas and designs before settling on one.

I did a test run also, which took me a lot of time and had a few problems- mainly some weak points that needed to be stronger (which I took into consideration the next time round).

Here is my final design that I drew out into my notebook.

I then drew this on to the aluminium sheet and began cutting it out with a piercing saw.

This image shows my piece held in a clamp which I use to hold it while cutting.

This is my ring once all cut out and roughly filed.

I need to just do some finishing touches to this ring and then I will upload a pic soon. It currently needs a little more filing and finishing.

Handmade cards

I like to always have a supply of cards for birthdays and other occations, so that when I need one there's always one there. These are ones that I have just made. I started off with the flowery, butterfly ones and then thought I'd better make some neutral ones as well.

New pieces

I have spent the weekend (or at least part of it, did spend some time playing in the snow) making some new pieces of jewellery. I have spent quite of bit of time sketching and drawing out ideas and thinking about making, but not actually getting round to it. But this weekend I made some time and sat down and started making. I did a bit of experimenting and trying out the ideas that I had drawn down.

I am very happy with one of the pieces, which seems to have come out better than I was expecting (nice when that happens). That's this one below.

I started this pendant by curving the wire into the shape I wanted, I then hammered it flat. I also hand cut the flower and heart charms. I then attached all of this to the wire with a few beads. This one was a bit of an experiment, so quite glad it worked out. Have a few more like this planned 2!

The next piece I created was this butterfly cut pendant. I cut out the shape and bent it so that it became 3D. This pendant is made from aluminium which was drilled, cut, filled and sanded to finish.

I then went on to make some more flowers. I made this flower pendant from two hand cut aluminium flowers and put a pearl bead at the centre.

Last, but not least, I made this larger pendant from aluminium, it has a layer of recycled plastic and then another aluminium flower with a bead centre. This is larger and so make a bit more of a statement, but is still subtle in colour.

That sums up my bit of work from this wkend.

Painted flowers

I have been making lots of jewellery from aluminium and think its a great material to work in, but was gettin a little bored with the lack of colour, so I decided to experiment with aluminium and acrylic paints.

I cut flower shapes from the metal, sanded and drilled them.

I then mixed the colours I wanted and painted them.

Flower bracelet

This is a bracelet I made a little while back. It's made using cowrie shells that I rescued from a belt I had and flowers that I made from fimo.

I was inspired by some flowers I found in the garden and made it with some cord that I plaited by hand.

I hope it reminds people of the sea and holidays...
